Economic Development Officer/Assistant to the town Administrator

The Town of Mossbank is seeking a self motivated and results-oriented individual for the position of Economic Development Officer and Assistant to the Town Administrator.  The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the community's yearly planning session, implementing the strategic plan as well as management of new and existing development projects.  Tourism development and marketing, business retention and attraction are also current priorities of the community.  In addition, the successful candidate will provide administrative assistance to the Town Administrator.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and/or Post Secondary Education specializing in Business/Public Administration and/or relevant experience
  • Experience in the area of Economic Development and/or marketing
  • Knowledge of the indudstry and economic structure of Saskatchewan
  • Knowledge of economic, business development issues, community based development and related government programs for municipal development
  • Understanding and appreciation of rural issues
  • Knowledge of accounting and/or bookkeeping practices and procedures

Employment Terms: Full/Part-time

Start Date: Tentatively April 12, 2010

Through the economic development office, Mossbank is part of  South West Tourism, the Community Futures Partners of Saskatchewan and Action Saskatchewan. Through meetings and workshops, the EDO has led the community through needs assessments and developed strategic plans to meet these needs.

The EDO is always working to ensure Mossbank is a thriving town, and is eager to work with businesses in town. Support is available to small business ventures, the Economic Development office can provide assistance with business planning and obtaining funding through the Small Business Loans program.  There is commercial property, as well as incentive programs available for business developments in Mossbank.
